Suppliers and Manufacturers

Our Initiative own brand is important to us and when sourcing products for the range, we aim to trade with environmentally aware suppliers and manufacturers who have, or who are developing environmental policies, procedures and systems. From the initial stages of the tendering process through to the actual awarding of a contract we monitor this carefully and are able to provide an environmental binder, covering all of our Initiative suppliers and manufacturers.

All of our suppliers are asked to provide Corporate Social Responsibility Statements, COSHH data, where relevant, and Quality Assurance as part of the tendering process for the Initiative brand.

In addition, we are members of Integra Business Solutions Ltd, a buying group of over 200 like minded businesses. Through our membership of Integra we are represented on the BOSS (British Office Supplies and Services Federation) Environmental Committee and have access to environmental guidelines and recommendations.

Delivery

We plan our deliveries to ensure we operate as efficiently as possible. Our vehicles are fully maintained to ensure we control and monitor CO2 emissions and lessen the impact we have on the environment.

We select appropriate sized packaging for each order to reduce waste, and we re-use existing packaging materials wherever possible.

We actively encourage the use of technology, amely online solutions and email, to reduce the amount of unnecessary paperwork and wastage. ur online solutions also make your business more efficient, saving you time and money. Recycling/Waste and Packaging

We aim to reduce, recycle and re-use packaging wherever possible and dispose of all waste responsibly.

In the UK alone over 60 million toner cartridges go into landfill each year. Toner cartridges are made of non-biogradable plastics which take over 1,000 years to decompose. 70% of all inkjet and 50% of all toners are not recycled. It takes 7 to 8 gallons of oil to manufacture a new toner cartridge – oil is a non-renewable resource.
